This eliminates the upper shifter arm for a more solid feel. Then you just have to shorten the lower stabilizer shifter arm. Getrag G - Strongest 6 speed option from E46 M3. There is a big question mark for what clutch to use with the PMC. The correct clutch pressure plate to use is E46 M3 then you match you disc with the trans.

We have worked with Spec to provide an off the shelf clutch. Or you can piece something together using this pressure plate and any other matched-to-trans disc. When you add the adapter it adds length rearward at the trans.

And when the motor is installed it will be as close to the firewall as possible. Luckily there are easy fixes. Driveshaft adapter - The 3 bolt driveshaft output flange on BMW needs to be adapted to a universal 4 bolt flange to make a one piece driveshaft. This eliminates the rubber guibo which is always a good thing. Driveshaft - There is a great company out of Florida that can make the new driveshaft. Your local driveshaft supplier can likely handle it too. These guys just know the application and there's a modular spline to allow for 2" inches in either direction.Hello Internet!

We thought long and hard about what Chassis to build as we wanted something modern with plenty of aftermarket support and of course it had to be able to house a 1JZ or 2JZ engine swap. So after talking with the seller and working out a price we snapped it up! Now that we had acquired a chassis we needed to find the power plant. Being huge fans of the Toyota JZ engines and running them for years in drift and street cars we had to get another one!

After talking with the selling we brought it and drove it away. The SC had a ton of aftermarket parts including an aftermarket clutch kit, Single turbo kit, Stand Alone ECU, upgraded fuel system, front mount intercooler kit etc. Being that the car was purchased for the purpose of ripping apart we got straight into it and removed the running gear. As soon as we got the engine and transmission out of the SC we cracked the box off to check out the clutch and check its condition.

Now with the engine and transmission removed it was time to start stripping the chassis down. We also put the 1JZ engine on a stand so we can strip it down and swap the sump over to a Front sump so it will clear the front cross member. Having this off the shelf mounts will make mounting the engine nice and easy! On inspection of the transmission tunnel and measuring the size of the R gearbox we are going to have to modify the stock tunnel mounts to fit the R in as the factory gear box is super small compared to the big Toyota R box.

Since we are welding on the transmissions tunnel we don't want anything to catch fire! So with the 1JZ on a stand we removed the rear sump setup to make way for the front sump setup so it will clear the crossmember. While the engine is out and pulled down we decided to tape it up and paint the block in Black. We purchased a new water pump, oil pump, front and rear mail seals, O rings etc After fitting all the new parts to the engine it was time to look at the Transmission tunnel to see how the R gearbox will fit and what needed to be modified.

So after doing a few measurements we confirmed it needed to be removed. Instead of getting an angle grinder and cutting into the tunnel we went and purchased a Spot Weld Cutter and drilled out each of the spot welds holding that brace in place. The spot weld cutter essentially cuts around the spot weld making it easy to separate each panel with out making a mess.

The OEM transmission tunnel cage brace is actually 3 pieces. We first drilled out the 2 actual mounting points to see if the gearbox would fit? After removing these mounts we test fitted the gearbox in the tunnel, but it was still fouling on the transmission brace that was left.

So once again we jumped under the car and started drilling out the remaining brace with the handy spot weld cutter. Here is what the brace looks like when removed. All up there was about 52 spot welds that needed to be drilled to remove the mounts and the cage brace.Forums New posts Search forums.

Authorized Seller. I have noticed a lot of the 1JZ information is not as accurate as it used to be. The common parts that are interchangeable with the 2JZ are the easy ones to find and we know they fit.

I cannot comment on JZ swap into other cars as I have not done enough of them to know everything. Please keep comments and questions after reading this whole post and any recommendations can be done through PM. The engine and body harness were different for certain years and so were the engine mounts and brackets. You will need the motor set and all of its electrical parts.

Certain things will need to be changed for fitment and simplicity such as the oil pan and water pump. You will need a 1JZ bellhousing and flywheel which can be used on the 2JZ too.

You should upgrade to the higher flow Walbro fuel pump as it will support the higher boost levels a lot better than the stock pump. The toughest part about this swap will be converting your harness to plug into your car.

JZ engines are big and heavy, and the AE86 has a short engine bay. To get it in and leave room for a radiator and intercooler you'll probably be looking at recessing the firewall - which is no problem if you have good metalworking skills, but a deal breaker if you don't.

I absolutly Love it! I am did the swap in an 89 Supra Targa Turbo!

For many reasons- You get to see the actual Mileage well KmYou get to see how the engine and all coponents went in the car from toyota, All fluids are left in the clip so you can see the quality of the oil, antifreeze, powersteering, etc.

You will also receive the stock intercooler and pipes. Plus you get to keep the hydraulic fan which is very effiecent more so then you would think! If you want to get rid of this or bought just an engine with out all the hyd. Things you need to Know before attempting swap!

Harness, The 1jzgte did not come in a LHD car. The RHD harness is too short to reach the glove box! It needs to be extended 18" It is not that difficult to do but very time consuming! It can cause mass confusion for trouble shooting. You can send it out to get done. There is a few people on ebay that does it. I have pics of the steps i did to extend mine! But i am an experienced aircraft electrician. And i already had an adjustable soldering iron.

Trust me on this one It is One tight fit in there! Again do as i say not as i do! These engines sit for a long time exspecially the low mileage engines. My engine started smokin at about miles started slowly then the top of the valve seal came off and slid up the valve.

I have pics of mine and im gonna do a separate how to for the valve seals! They are cheap. So just do it. Mine were pretty bad. I got my stuff from driftmotion -Mk4 throttle cable. Mine on both engines were rotted out! If i remember more stuff I will Add to this list feel free to pm me if i forgot something or you think something should be added.
